Firstly, we try very hard to keep the pricing for all our
products as competitive as we possibly can.
To achieve this we usually only
have any increase in our pricing once a year, which
normally coincides with the start of a new year, but naturally that
can be governed or varied by activity in the world economy.
Our price rises almost always
coincide with the release of major upgrades to the products,
as is certainly the case at the end of this year (2006)
Because the new releases
of our NetCFax
products include a great many new features, including the
ability to have the Fax Server run as a Windows Service, and
many other new and powerful features, we feel the price
increase this year was wholly justified.
Because we recognize that
(surprisingly) some new or even existing customers may decide
that they do not want to take advantage of the new capability
to run the fax server as a Windows Service, and therefore we
decided that it would be unfair to pass the additional cost
for this on to all our customers if they feel do not want that
facility.
Therefore the Windows Service
has been priced as an optional plug-in so that only
those that actually want to use this facility need to pay for it.
The cost to register the
standard product is as shown on our prices page. If you also
want to take advantage of the Service facility, we charge you
an additional fee that is approximately 15% of the normal
registration cost of the version you are licensing.
You will also notice that
because there are three very different versions of NetCFax
(Standard, Pro and PRO+) that each provide different
functionality, so each of those versions have their own
specific pricing scale.
If you are upgrading a
registered copy to the newer releases, we have taken exactly
the same approach, so you only pay the standard upgrade charge
shown on the prices page. If however, you want the
Windows Service facility, the 15% additional cost is still
payable, and this is of course based on the full new price of
the relevant sized system you are upgrading to.
As an example, lets assume
you are upgrading from Pro 3.14 to Pro 3.16 and currently have
a 10 user license.
The upgrade cost for this is
only $56 without the Service plug-in. To add the Service
facility as well, an additional charge of $47.50 will be made
(the full new registration cost for Pro 3.16 for 10 users is
$322.50, so you can see that the $47.50 is slightly less than
15% of this amount).
