In the same way as everyone else, we have all been waiting (with not exactly bated breathe if we are to be perfectly honest) for the well overdue release of the latest Windows VISTA operating system from Microsoft. This system is being heavily promoted as the system that will eventually remove Windows XP from your desktop.

Well eventually Vista was publicly released on January 30, 2007.

We have of course been looking at developer pre-releases of this new operating system so that we can ensure that NetCFax (and our other products) will work correctly on the new operating system.

Testing has shown that Vista certainly has a great many new "features", but some of these may make running software such as the NetCFax system a little more complex than it has been previously, mostly due to the additional (and in our opinion highly onerous) security features such as the User Account Control" (UAC) system that Vista insists on using by default.

We have now worked pretty extensively to understand all of the ramifications of running applications such as NetCFax under Windows Vista (Business), and we have added various new support for Vista to NetCFax to ensure that it should run as successfully and reliably on Vista as it does on all of the other supported Windows platforms.

We are still performing regression testing of the three new NetCFax systems, but believe that we will have releases of all versions of NetCFax for Windows Vista ready and available before the end of February, 2007. 

IMPORTANT - We already shipped major upgrades to NetCFax with many powerful new features, including support for running the NetCFax server as a Windows Service, just before the new year, and due to that small upgrade fee is payable for those upgrades.

If you have already upgraded to the latest NetCFax 2.75, NetCFax Pro v3.16 or NetCFax PRO+ v3.6 releases then the new Vista release upgrade will be totally free of charge.

But, if you have not yet upgraded from earlier releases to the current latest releases then that small upgrade fee will be payable for upgrades to the new Windows Vista releases.  

As an additional bonus, in addition to the support for Windows Vista, there are several new and powerful features in Pro and PRO+ that enhance their functionality even more.
