This page provides information to help you understand
How to set up the printer to be used by NetCFax

BACK TO INDEX PAGE

NB - This information has nothing to do with the fax printer that you use to create faxable data to be sent by NetCFax. This information is all about configuring NetCFax to print data out to one of your available "hard copy" printers.

NetCFax can be configured to use any available printer for its normal printing of faxes, transmission reports etc, and this also lets you specify a different printer for the server to be used when it auto prints received (and/or sent/failed) faxes.

This means that NetCFax can use a different printer to that specified as the default Windows Printer, without effecting the printing of any other system on your PC.

From the Printing menu, select "Auto printing configuration" which will display the window shown below.

As you can see, our test system has four different printers accessible to it, including both our Fax server and Fax client printers, which are of course, not something we are likely to select for this task.  So we can choose the PDF995 printer (creates PDF files) of the HP LaserJet 5.

Once you select a printer, all you need to do is click the "Set Default" button, and the "current default" display line will change to the selected printer.  If you also want this to be the Windows default printer, then check that option at the top and click the "Save All" button and thereafter, all applications will print to the same printer.

The option to "Let me select the printer each time..." is only enabled on fax clients (not in the fax server as pretty obviously servers of any type should never ask questions before performing their tasks unless there is a severe problem.) If you check this option, the fax client will always ask you to select the printer to be used, irrespective of the settings made here.

NetCFax can also let you set the font name and font size for all general printing it performs.  These settings are NOT USED by any other applications.

The print spooler delay is only provided if you have a very slow printer, or slow network, and in those cases you may need to make this value longer.
