Ok, so what do we mean by a "LIVE CABINET" ?

That's really very easy to answer...

The PRO+ fax client's cabinet is automatically updated by the fax server whenever any changes occur. This includes faxes arriving, faxes being deleted or cancelled by other clients, and of course, new faxes that are being created by other fax clients and that are waiting to be sent out.

Unlike the Pro and 2.7 releases, the PRO+ system does not perform a full refresh of the entire list in the currently open drawer whenever a change occurs, or even in the other drawers.  Whenever a change occurs in a PRO+ client the Fax Server notifies all PRO+ clients of what has occurred. The PRO+ clients handle this intelligently, checking for which drawers of your faxes cabinet you may have had opened, and then adjusts the contents of the list as required. 

What this means is that if you have had the received faxes drawer open at any point in time, and a fax is received, the new fax will just appear as if by magic in your list.  The same concept applies to faxes being deleted or cancelled.  All of the effected drawers are updated in background, but in virtually real time.

In fact, when changes occur in  drawer you already have opened, the changed or new faxes are colored RED to allow you to identify the changed entries immediately.  Once you have viewed the new entries you can reset that color "flagging" from a an option on the view menu.

What are the real benefits of this system ?

Well, they are very many really.  Lets take a valid real life scenario and walk through it ?

Lets say that your fax system allows several different people in your sales office to view and handle all of the received faxes.  That's just fine, but what happens if one individual views a newly received sales enquiry fax and starts to respond to it, and you also decide to respond to the same fax.  Result - Your new potential customer is liable to get two faxes back, which we all recognize is not really very professional.

With PRO+ as soon as anyone views a fax, the default configuration settings will mark that fax (alone) as having been seen.  Now, with PRO+, your list of the received faxes will show you that someone else has just viewed that fax, so you can assume that they are handling it,  leaving you to handle a different and currently unanswered fax, saving time, duplication of effort and reputation.

If you view a fax and decide NOT to handle it, you can simply press the "U" key to mark it as Unseen again, so everyone else will see that it has not been handled, because their own list of faxes will change in real time.
