What the NetCFax client auto timeout system is & how to set it up ?

BACK TO INDEX PAGE

When in normal use, most people will have the NetCFax client logged into the fax server, but if they were to be called away from their desk, that fax client could potentially be used by anyone, and what is worse, they could change any configuration settings they may feel they wanted to.

We felt this was not a very good idea, so we actually provide two different  automatic timeout systems, one in the fax server, the other in the clients.

The Fax Server timeout can be enabled or disabled by the server administrator, and if it is enabled, then ANY FAX CLIENT that is connected to the fax server for longer than the timeout period that has been set WITHOUT connecting to the server to do something will be disconnected remotely by the server.  Quite naturally, the Fax Clients cannot control or override this.

The fax clients also have a similar setting that is accessed from the
Tools - General Fax Client Options menu item.

At the very top of the window that is displayed is the check box to enable or disable this, and there is a spinner that lets you decide how long a period of inactivity will tell the  client to log out from the server. If you have NetCFax Pro v3.00.7 or later, you can however also set the client up to automatically try to login again after x seconds, and how many times it will attempt this.

IMPORTANT - By default, once a fax client is not logged in to a fax server, most of it's configuration system is not available.
