Most important - you must be logged in to Windows using an account that has full administrator rights to install a printer driver. If when the fax client tries to install the Fax Client Printer Driver the notification window just sits there (hangs), the usual cause is that some other (badly behaved) printer driver install system has accidentally or even purposefully deleted, renamed or replaced one of the Microsoft printer support DLL's from the SYSTEM32\WBEM folder, and because Windows cannot find it, it fails to install our Fax Client printer driver. However, we have discovered that if you install our special Remote Fax printer driver FIRST, and once you have done so successfully, run the standard Fax Client printer install again, it will then install the Fax Client Printer driver successfully. HOW TO DO IT It is really very simple, and if you follow the numbered steps below it only takes a very few minutes. 1 - Start (or restart) the Fax client again, and say NO to the prompt that will appear asking you if you want to install the Fax Client Printer. 2 - Select the option on the View menu of the fax client to open Windows Explorer with the fax client installation folder selected. 3 - Open the sub folder you will see in the fax client install sub tree named PRINTERDRIVER. 4 - Double click on the
file in the right hand pane named 5 - Follow the various instructions to install this (remote) printer driver. 6 - When you see a window appear that asks you to provide the path to the folder, just enter the following :- C:\fax.tif 7 - Click the OK button to close that window 8 - That's it - you should have now installed the Remote Fax Printer driver successfully. 9 - Now select the NetCFax Client main window again, and go to the Printing menu. Select the option "Fax Printer Installation" and then select the option to "Install the Fax Client Printer Driver" 10 - This should then work as normal, and once the splash window disappears the Fax Client printer will be installed successfully. 11 - Go to the Windows START menu, select Settings - Printers and faxes, and ensure that you do have the Fax Client Printer installed. 12 - FINALLY - Select the Printer named "Remote fax printer" and DELETE it (You no longer need it and you MUST DELETE IT) THAT'S ALL THERE IS TO IT YOUR FAX CLIENT NOW HAS THE PRINTER DRIVER INSTALLED SUCCESSFULLY |
